Twenty-seven communities in the Nkoranza North Constituency of the Bono East Region have been connected to the national electricity grid through the efforts of the area Member of Parliament, Joseph Kwasi Mensah.
The electrification project is expected to improve the living conditions of residents by expanding access to power for homes, businesses, schools and health facilities.
Speaking in an interview on Fabea FM’s Me Man Ho Dadwen programme with host Apiah-Kubi, the MP said he remains committed to ensuring that more underserved communities in the constituency receive electricity.
According to him, discussions are ongoing with the Ministry of Energy to extend power to additional communities that are yet to be connected to the national grid.
The communities expected to benefit from the next phase of the project include Abirekyirekrom, Otumfuor Farms, Anafuor, Asuoti, Kranka, Baafi, Dwenewoho, Bono Manso and Sikaa.
“I will not rest until every household in the constituency has access to electricity,” Hon. Mensah stated.
He urged residents to help protect the electricity infrastructure to ensure the long-term success of the project.
The MP described the initiative as a major step toward improving livelihoods and boosting economic activity in the area.
He explained that the electrification exercise was implemented through a cost-sharing arrangement, with the government supplying materials while he personally financed the construction and distribution works.
“I started lobbying for this project during the NPP administration and was asked to take care of the construction costs while government provided the materials. Because my constituents urgently needed electricity, I agreed,” he said.
Hon. Mensah added that access to reliable electricity would help create opportunities for small businesses, improve education and strengthen healthcare delivery across the constituency.
