Black Starlets head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum says his side is ready to make Ghanaians proud as they prepare for the 2025 WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast.
The team wrapped up their preparations in Accra on Sunday and will depart for the tournament, which kicks off on September 20.
Speaking to the Ghana Football Association’s official website, the former Asante Kotoko boss expressed satisfaction with the team’s work in camp and assured that the players are determined to deliver.
“We have had a very productive camp, and the players have shown great commitment. We are going to Côte d’Ivoire, determined to compete and make Ghanaians proud,” he said.
Ghana have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Ivory Coast, Togo and Niger. The Starlets will begin their campaign against Togo on Saturday, September 20, at 18:00 GMT, before facing Ivory Coast on Tuesday, September 23, at the same time. They will wrap up the group stage against Niger on Friday, 26 September, with kick-off at 15:00 GMT.
All group matches will be staged at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium.
The tournament serves as the qualifying event for the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, with the top teams from the zone booking their spots at the continental showpiece.
The Black Starlets, two-time FIFA U-17 World Cup winners, will be hoping to secure qualification and re-establish their dominance at the youth level.
