The Head of the Economic and Commercial Office of Spain, Yann Emonet Ripoll, has highlighted the growing commercial relationship between Spain and Ghana, noting a steady rise in trade volumes between the two countries in recent years.
He disclosed that Ghana currently maintains a trade balance with Spain, with exports to the European country exceeding €273 million, while Spanish exports to Ghana reached €267 million in 2025 — representing a 26% increase compared to the previous year.
Speaking at the 8th edition of TASTE SPAIN ACCRA, Mr Ripoll expressed satisfaction at the return of the event to Ghana following its last edition in 2022.
“We are very pleased to have brought TASTE SPAIN ACCRA back to Ghana after the last edition in 2022. Over the years, the event has become an important platform for connecting Spanish producers with Ghanaian professionals and strengthening commercial ties between both markets,” he said.
He noted that while Spanish wine remains one of the country’s most prominent export products globally, this year’s edition was expanded to include a broader range of food and beverage offerings, showcasing Spain’s wider gastronomic heritage.
“We were especially excited to expand this year’s edition to include Spanish food products and beverages, offering a broader showcase of Spain’s gastronomic excellence,” he added.
Mr Ripoll emphasised the commitment of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy of Spain in Accra to facilitating stronger business linkages between Spanish exporters and Ghanaian importers through platforms such as TASTE SPAIN ACCRA, which continues to position itself as a leading showcase for Spanish food and beverage products in Ghana.
He further noted that the agri-food sector has become one of the fastest-growing segments of Spanish exports to Ghana, rising from €23.5 million in 2024 to €50.2 million in 2025.
According to him, the sector accounted for nearly 20% of total Spanish exports to Ghana last year, reflecting increasing demand among Ghanaian importers, retailers and consumers for Spanish products.

The TASTE SPAIN ACCRA exhibition, last held in 2022, has returned as one of Ghana’s leading professional platforms dedicated to showcasing Spanish food and beverage products and strengthening trade relations between the two countries.
Organised with the support of ICEX Spain Trade and Investment, the event has, for more than a decade, promoted Spanish gastronomy while fostering commercial ties between Spanish producers and the Ghanaian market.
This year’s edition brought together eight Spanish companies that travelled to Ghana to present a curated selection of food and beverage products, while also exploring new business opportunities within the local market. Three Ghanaian importers and distributors already working with Spanish brands also took part, showcasing products currently available to consumers in Ghana.
While Spanish wines remained a major highlight — with Spain ranking as the third-largest exporter of wine to Ghana — the 2026 edition expanded its scope to include a wider range of products such as sparkling wines, juices and gourmet specialties that reflect Spain’s rich culinary tradition.
The exhibition served as a networking hub for importers, distributors, retailers, hotels, restaurants and catering professionals seeking to discover new Spanish products and build partnerships with producers.
Alongside the commercial showcase, TASTE SPAIN ACCRA 2026 featured guided tastings and networking sessions designed to deepen engagement between participants and strengthen business connections.
The event was held simultaneously with similar editions in Nairobi and Abidjan, underscoring growing interest among Spanish companies in expanding their presence across key African markets.
