Flooding of River Sui Pushes Transport Fares Up by 100% on Juaboso–Dadieso Road

Residents and commuters along the Juaboso–Dadieso road in the Western North Region have been stranded following the annual flooding of the River Sui after heavy rains.

The situation, which has become a recurring challenge in the area, has disrupted transportation and economic activities, leaving road users unable to move freely between Juaboso and Dadieso.

The flooding continues to pose significant difficulties for residents, affecting daily travel, trade, and access to essential services along the corridor.

Transport fares doubled on Juaboso–Dadieso road after River Sui flooded

Commercial drivers operating along the affected route have increased transport fares by 100 per cent, raising prices from GH¢35 to GH¢70, citing hazardous road conditions caused by persistent flooding.

According to the drivers, the worsening state of the road has made travel increasingly difficult and risky, forcing them to adjust fares to cover operational costs and safety concerns.

The situation has left commuters and residents struggling with rising transport expenses, adding to the challenges already posed by the flooding.

Some affected residents, who spoke to Adom News, expressed frustration over the recurring nature of the problem and the disruption it continues to cause to daily life and economic activity.

They are calling on government and relevant authorities to intervene urgently and provide a lasting solution to restore safe and reliable transportation along the route.
