Ghanaians Urged to Involve Rent Control Department in Tenancy Agreements

The Western North Regional Manager of the Rent Control Department, Apostle Steve Kwame Edem Ampeh, has urged landlords and tenants to involve the department in all tenancy agreements, in line with Ghana’s legal requirements.

He said proper engagement with the Rent Control Department helps ensure that tenancy agreements are correctly drawn up and can significantly reduce disputes between landlords and tenants.

According to him, tenancy agreements are a key part of the rental process and must be handled in accordance with established legal procedures.

Apostle Ampeh also outlined provisions of the law governing rental agreements, including their terms and duration, stressing that compliance is mandatory for all parties involved.

He warned that landlords who fail to adhere to the law will be sanctioned, adding that enforcement remains a key part of the department’s mandate.

He further encouraged members of the public to report landlords who flout rental regulations, so appropriate legal action can be taken.
