The Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, has met with Ghanaian X content creators at Bank Square to discuss concerns surrounding access to digital platform payouts.
The meeting follows a statement issued by the Bank on April 20, 2026, in response to concerns raised by creators over delays and challenges in receiving payments from online platforms.
During the engagement, Dr. Asiama assured the creators that the Bank of Ghana recognises the value of their work and its contribution to the economy.
“We place a premium on what you do, just like the export of cocoa,” he said. “If you are facing challenges with your payouts, we are ready to assist. We are making ourselves accessible to help resolve the issues you have.”
The Governor also encouraged the creators to form a formal association to make it easier for concerns to be channelled to the Bank for quicker engagement and resolution.
“We are interested in what you are doing and will do everything possible to support and facilitate your work,” he added.
The Bank further explained that under Ghana’s existing foreign exchange regulations, proceeds from service exports can be received through Foreign Exchange Accounts held with banks in Ghana or through Ghana cedi accounts, provided the transactions comply with regulatory requirements.
