Festus Agyapong dismisses allegations of fuelling insults among NPP supporters

A parliamentary aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Sefwi Wiawso, Mr. Festus Agyapong Bumagamah, has denied allegations that he is encouraging party supporters to insult others on political platforms.

Speaking in an interview, Mr. Agyapong clarified that he has no involvement with individuals who have been making such comments in his name. He added that he has stayed away from NPP-related online platforms since 2024, following the general elections.

He explained that many discussions on these platforms have shifted toward insults and personal attacks, instead of focusing on constructive political engagement and grassroots mobilisation. According to him, if that energy were redirected into community-level campaigning, the party would be in a stronger position politically.

Mr. Agyapong also urged those allegedly using his name to engage in insults to stop immediately, stressing that political participation should be guided by respect and democratic principles.

He further encouraged aspirants and party supporters to embrace fair competition, noting that every candidate has a base of supporters who are entitled to freely express their political choices.

Concluding his remarks, he called on all aspirants to focus on engaging voters at the community level by presenting their achievements, ideas, and development plans in order to earn public trust and support.
