A 27-year-old woman, Opoku Abigail, has tragically died at the Kasoa Mother and Child Hospital after reportedly waiting 36 hours for an emergency C-section that never happened due to the unavailability of a recovery bed.

According to her family, Abigail was referred to the hospital from a private facility while in prolonged labor.
Despite her critical condition, she was allegedly left waiting as hospital staff cited the lack of a bed in the recovery ward. She eventually passed away with her unborn baby still in her womb.
The heartbreaking incident has been widely reported by several Ghanaian media outlets, including Bigstuffmediagh, Sarfowaablog, GhanaWeb and Citi FM, which back the family’s account of events.
The tragedy has sparked strong calls for an immediate investigation into the hospital’s operations and maternal care protocols.
The story has ignited widespread outrage online, with many Ghanaians criticizing the persistent delays in maternal healthcare and the country’s struggling health infrastructure.
Social media users are demanding greater accountability from the hospital and urging authorities to put better emergency response systems in place to prevent such incidents in the future.
