Western North Minister Praises Catholic Church’s Impact on Education, Health and Peace

The Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, has praised the Catholic Church—particularly the Sefwi Wiawso Diocese—for its significant contributions to Ghana’s development, especially in education and healthcare.

He also commended the Church’s role in promoting peace and moral discipline, noting that its efforts have helped steer many people away from wrongdoing.

Mr. Bentum made these remarks during the inauguration of the Catholic Nim Avenue Hotel Pastoral Center at Datano, a suburb of Sefwi Wiawso Municipality, on April 16, 2026.

He described the new facility as a timely addition that will boost the region’s growing hospitality sector.

The Bishop of the Sefwi Wiawso Diocese, Most Rev. Samuel Nkua Boateng, led the blessing of the centre.

He highlighted the Church’s vision for the project, which features about 42 rooms equipped with modern, refurbished facilities to serve both pastoral and accommodation needs.

Also present at the event was the Chief of Sefwi Datano, Nana Kwaku Boahen, who represented the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council.

He used the occasion to advise young people to stay away from drug abuse and focus on making responsible life choices as they work towards a better future.
