The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested six suspected land guards following a gunfight at Trasacco in Accra.
According to police reports, the incident began on January 10, 2026, around 12:50 pm, when officers received a distress call about armed men attacking workers at the site. Upon arrival, the police encountered a group of roughly 50 men who opened fire.
In response, the officers returned fire and pursued the suspects into a nearby bush. Six individuals were apprehended during the operation.
Police recovered several weapons and ammunition, including an AK-47 rifle with five rounds, a Luger T9 rifle with five rounds, and a Regard MC rifle with 13 rounds. Four motorbikes believed to have been used by the suspects were also seized.
The arrested individuals, along with the recovered weapons and equipment, have been taken to the Accra Regional Police Headquarters for further questioning.
Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the group who managed to flee the scene.
