Assembly Member Urges Responsible Teaching After BECE Malpractice Arrests in Twifo Atti Morkwa

The Assembly Member for the Eduabeng Electoral Area in the Twifo Atti Morkwa District of the Central Region, Hon. Latif Adae, has raised concerns over the arrest of teachers linked to alleged examination malpractice in the 2026 BECE.

He described the development as troubling, adding that it reflects poorly on the teaching profession. According to him, some of the arrested teachers did not adequately fulfil their responsibilities in the classroom, which may have contributed to the incident.

Hon. Adae condemned the arrests, describing them as “shameful,” and stressed the importance of proper teaching in preparing students effectively for examinations.

He made the remarks during a visit to Eduabeng D/A Basic School, where he congratulated candidates who completed the 2026 BECE. As part of the visit, he presented food and drinks to the candidates in celebration of their efforts.

Beyond education issues, the Assembly Member—who also serves as an NDC branch chairman—called on party delegates to choose leaders based on competence and merit rather than financial influence.

The headteacher of Twifo Eduabeng D/A Basic School, Mr. Robert Nuamah, also cautioned teachers against engaging in examination malpractice, warning that it undermines both individual reputation and the credibility of educational institutions.

He expressed gratitude to the Assembly Member for his remarks and support during the visit.
