Queen mothers from various markets across the Ashanti Region have criticised recent threats made by some traders against the government over delays in completing major market projects, including the Kumasi Kejetia Phase II and Krofrom Market developments.

At a press conference in Kumasi, the market queens described the growing tension as unnecessary and appealed to traders to remain calm while efforts are made to address the stalled projects.

According to them, although the delays are a source of concern, threats and confrontational actions will not speed up the completion process. They instead called for continued dialogue and cooperation to help ensure the smooth continuation of construction works.

The queen mothers also acknowledged previous infrastructure projects undertaken in the Ashanti Region, saying such developments have helped improve trading conditions in parts of the metropolis.

They further appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to fulfil his commitments by ensuring the abandoned market projects are completed, stressing that the facilities are vital to local business growth and the livelihoods of traders.

Speaking on behalf of the group, Madam Grace Agyei Darko urged traders to remain united and patient, emphasising that cooperation and collective support are necessary to achieve the successful completion of the projects.
