Ekumfi District: Police probe suspected ritual killing after man’s mutilated body discovered

An unidentified man, believed to be in his thirties, has been found dead in a disturbing incident between Ekumfi Eyisam and Ekumfi Techiman in the Ekumfi District.

The body was discovered with severe mutilations, sparking shock and fear among residents in the area. Key parts of the deceased were reportedly missing, making identification difficult at the scene.

According to the Assemblyman for the Obontser Electoral Area, Abdul Razak, he received a distress call around 6:25 a.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2026, alerting him to the discovery.

Speaking to GhOne News’ Yaw Boagyan, he described the scene as disturbing, noting that the condition of the body suggested it may have been dumped there after the incident occurred elsewhere.

Residents say the development has left the community in fear, with some speculating about possible criminal activity, while others suggest alternative explanations. Many are calling on families with missing relatives to come forward to help with identification.

The remains have since been deposited at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The case is currently under investigation by the Ekumfi District Police Service. No arrests have been made so far.

The Assemblyman has urged anyone with information about missing persons to report to the authorities to assist with ongoing investigations.
