Ghana-Spain Fashion Partnership: KTU and Spanish High Commission Launch Seamstresses 2.0 Project

Koforidua Technical University and the Spanish High Commission have partnered to launch “Seamstresses 2.0: Between Threads and Cultures: Ghana and Spain,” a fashion initiative designed to promote creativity among students, strengthen institutional collaboration, and celebrate the fashion and cultural ties between Ghana and Spain.

The Spanish Ambassador to Ghana, Ángel Lossada Torres-Quevedo, together with his delegation, paid a courtesy visit to the university on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

During the visit, the delegation met with management, staff, and students from the Departments of Fashion Design and Textiles, as well as Graphics Design.

The occasion also marked the official launch of the project, which seeks to encourage cultural exchange and provide students with practical exposure in fashion and design.

Students participating in the programme will have three days — from Monday, May 18, to Wednesday, May 20, 2026 — to design and produce original collections inspired by flamenco fashion.

The completed works will later be showcased during the Spanish Feria, a cultural celebration featuring Spanish food, music, and arts, scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the residence of the Spanish Ambassador in Accra.
