A pastor and his alleged accomplice are in police custody after reportedly attempting to bury a five-month-old baby alive in Abofrem, a community in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.

The suspect, Apostle Dr. Richmond Akwasi Frimpong, who heads the Anointed Grace Prayer Ministry at Kuffour Camp, was arrested alongside another man following a late-night incident at a refuse dump.
The incident occurred around 11 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, when a resident, Winfred Agbah, became suspicious after spotting the two men behaving unusually. Acting on instinct, he moved closer to investigate — only to make a chilling discovery.

According to Agbah, the baby the men were allegedly preparing to bury was still alive.
“The child was not dead. They planned to bury him alive. Only God knows why,” he recounted.
His swift intervention and alert raised the alarm, prompting a police response. The two suspects were subsequently arrested and taken into custody in Bibiani.
In a further twist, the chief linguist of Abofrem, Nana Yaw Badu, disclosed that the pastor had earlier approached him, claiming the baby had died and requesting permission to bury the body.
“I had no idea the child was alive,” he said.
The infant has since been rushed to the Abofrem Clinic, where medical staff are providing care. Police say a full investigation is underway, while the suspects remain in detention.
