Police have arrested a pastor in connection with a disturbing incident involving the alleged attempted burial of a five-month-old baby at Abofrem in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.
The suspect, Richmond Akwasi Frimpong, who heads the Anointed Grace Prayer Ministry at Kuffour Camp, was picked up following the incident, which has left residents stunned.
Eyewitnesses say the pastor, together with an unidentified accomplice, was spotted around 11 p.m. at a refuse dump under suspicious circumstances, carrying the infant.
One of the witnesses, Winfred Agbah, said he grew alarmed by the unusual scene and decided to intervene.
When he approached, he discovered that the baby was still alive and appeared to be on the verge of being buried.
The incident has since sent shockwaves through the Abofrem community, with many residents expressing outrage and disbelief over the alleged involvement of a religious leader.
