The District Chief Executive for Nkoranza North in the Bono East Region, Effah Patrick, has encouraged Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates to view the exams as a stepping stone rather than the end of their academic journey.
Speaking in an interview, he reminded students that completing Junior High School marks only one phase of their education.
“You have just completed one stage. The next step is Senior High School,” he said ahead of the exams.
Hon. Effah Patrick expressed confidence in the candidates’ preparedness, noting that the BECE questions are generally straightforward and manageable. He pointed out that students had already taken mock examinations similar to the final papers and urged them to rely on what they have been taught.
He also cautioned both students and teachers against examination malpractice, warning that any candidate caught cheating risks having their results cancelled. Teachers, he added, must avoid offering any form of assistance during the exams.
“Any country that toys with its education risks underdevelopment. Make good use of what you know and avoid malpractice,” he advised.
The DCE further highlighted the importance of the Free Senior High School policy, which he said has been strengthened under John Dramani Mahama. He described the initiative as a key pillar in Ghana’s education system and urged students to take full advantage of it.
The BECE in the district began with officials visiting examination centres to offer encouragement and monitor proceedings.
Hon. Effah Patrick concluded by wishing the candidates success and expressed optimism that their performance would bring pride to the district.
