The Youth Organizer for the Dormaa Central Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Kumi Asare, has called on Ghanaians to remain patient as government works to resolve the ongoing challenges in the country’s power supply.
Speaking in an interview with Kwaku Mensah Abrampa on the GIFTS FM morning show, Mr. Asare described the current electricity fluctuations as “Dum Siesie” rather than “Dumsor,” insisting that the situation reflects ongoing efforts to stabilise the power system.
He maintained that the NDC remains best positioned to address Ghana’s electricity challenges, pointing to what he described as the party’s track record in expanding power generation and extending electricity to rural communities.
According to him, these expansion efforts have increased the load on transformers, making it necessary to repair and maintain damaged equipment across the system.
“This is an ongoing process, and once the maintenance work is completed, the challenges in the energy sector will be effectively resolved,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Presiding Member of the Dormaa East District Assembly, Hon. Alan Afi Isaac, said the Ministry of Energy has taken firm steps following the fire incident at Akosombo, including the suspension of the Director of GRIDCo pending investigations.
He noted that the interventions have already shown results, pointing to a period of nearly five days of uninterrupted power supply.
He described the ongoing outages, commonly referred to as “dumsor,” as a temporary challenge that government is actively working to resolve in order to ensure more reliable electricity for Ghanaians.
Hon. Isaac also suggested that the situation is gradually improving, adding that the opposition has shifted its attention to other national issues, including financial concerns at the Bank of Ghana.
He further argued that Ghanaians are benefiting from what he called the NDC’s “resetting agenda,” expressing confidence in the party’s prospects ahead of the 2028 general elections. According to him, under the leadership of former President John Dramani Mahama, the party is well positioned for future electoral success, regardless of its eventual flagbearer.
