An alumnus of Presbyterian Boys’ Senior High School (PRESEC), Legon, and current Board Chairman of the school, Dr. Ofori Sarpong, has donated a modern, state-of-the-art facility to his former school in appreciation of the values, discipline, and training he received there many years ago.
Dr. Sarpong, who also serves as Global President of the school’s alumni association, said the gesture is his way of giving back to the institution that played a key role in shaping his life.
The newly commissioned facility is expected to support government efforts to expand access to quality secondary education and improve learning conditions for students.

The new facility is expected to ease congestion in boarding houses and improve student accommodation, creating a more comfortable and conducive learning environment for both current and future students.
In a Facebook post, the Ghana Education Service (GES) noted that the initiative reflects the growing importance of old students’ associations in the education sector, describing them as key stakeholders in supporting the development of schools.

“Alumni groups contribute not only to infrastructure development but also to mentorship, scholarships, and institutional governance,” GES stated.

Their continued involvement, the GES said, strengthens schools’ capacity to provide holistic and competitive education.

In commending Dr Ofori Sarpong for his “exemplary gesture”, GES urged other alumni and individuals to emulate his commitment to educational development.

“Such partnerships remain vital in complementing Government’s efforts to improve teaching and learning conditions across the country,” GES added.

The school management has assured Dr. Sarpong and the general public of its commitment to working closely with school authorities and relevant stakeholders to ensure the facility is properly maintained and effectively utilised for the long-term benefit of students.
