Queiroz to Restore Discipline in Black Stars, Says FIFA Specialist Chibsah

FIFA High-Performance Specialist Faisal Chibsah has backed newly appointed Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz to restore discipline to the team, saying it was an area he felt had been lacking under the previous technical leadership.

Otto Addo was relieved of his duties following a run of four consecutive defeats in international friendlies, with just three months remaining before the World Cup.

Queiroz, the experienced Portuguese tactician, has since been appointed on a short-term four-month deal to lead the team through the expanded 48-team tournament.

Speaking to JoyNews, Chibsah expressed confidence in the 73-year-old coach, who has previously served as assistant to Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United and managed clubs including Real Madrid.

“He will bring a bit of discipline to the team, which for me was lacking a lot. We would see it, and Ghana would definitely get an identity,” he said.

He added that Queiroz’s biggest challenge would be adapting to the demands and expectations of Ghanaian football.

“Iran, Oman, Qatar—his recent jobs—are not Ghana. Ghana expects more,” Chibsah noted.

Queiroz has described his new role as “not just another job, but a mission” ahead of the global tournament.

The Black Stars are aiming to reach the knockout stage of the World Cup for the first time since 2010.

Ghana have been drawn in Group L, where they will face England, Croatia, and Panama.
