Twenty-two persons living with disabilities (PWDs) in the Juaben Municipality have benefited from financial assistance and equipment under the Disability Fund of the District Assemblies Common Fund.

The beneficiaries received items including refrigerators and other tools intended to help them engage in small businesses and improve their livelihoods. While some plan to invest in petty trading and farming, others intend to use the support to address health and educational needs.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, Eunice Ohenewaa Ansu, said the initiative is part of efforts to ease the economic burden on persons with disabilities and promote their inclusion in local economic activities.

She also noted that government is considering an increase in the Disability Fund allocation from three per cent to five per cent, a move expected to strengthen support for beneficiaries in the coming years.

Some of the recipients expressed gratitude for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful. They pledged to use the items and funds responsibly to improve their living conditions and create sustainable income sources.
The Disability Fund under the District Assemblies Common Fund is designed to empower persons with disabilities by supporting income-generating activities and enhancing their overall well-being.
