Some market women, particularly yam traders at the Dormaa Ahenkro Tuesday Market, have expressed strong dissatisfaction with the Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly over their temporary relocation for trading activities.

The traders were moved to a site near the NAB-1 Park to make way for the construction of a modern 24-hour economy model market at the original Dormaa Ahenkro Tuesday Market.
However, the women say the new location is far from ideal. According to them, the area is highly prone to flooding and waterlogging, making trading extremely difficult, especially after a heavy rainstorm on Monday, April 27, 2026.

They explained that the recent downpour left the entire market space submerged, disrupting movement and preventing them from displaying and selling their goods properly. The situation, they say, has significantly affected their daily sales and overall livelihood.

The traders are therefore appealing to the Municipal Assembly to urgently address the challenges at the relocation site or provide better alternatives to ensure smooth business operations on future market days.
