Former NDC Branch Chairman Pays Nomination Fees for Klottey Korle Executives Ahead of 2026 Elections

A data analytics engineer and former Branch Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Klottey Korle, Nii Ashitei Ashietey, has announced that he will fully cover nomination filing fees and membership dues for all branch executives in the constituency ahead of the party’s 2026 grassroots elections.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening the party’s base by ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent qualified and committed members from taking part in the internal electoral process.

According to Mr. Ashietey, many capable party members are often sidelined at the grassroots level due to financial challenges, a situation he hopes to address with this intervention.

“This support is about making sure that financial barriers do not stop dedicated individuals from participating. We want committed people to step forward and help build a stronger party at the grassroots,” he explained.

The gesture comes at a time when the NDC is preparing for nationwide branch elections, a process widely seen as a key foundation for the party’s internal leadership structure.

Political observers say grassroots elections play a critical role in shaping the party’s future leadership at constituency, regional and national levels.

Mr. Ashietey added that beyond removing financial burdens, the initiative is also intended to encourage wider participation and strengthen local party organisation across all branches in the constituency.

He reaffirmed his commitment to the development of Klottey Korle, stressing that empowering grassroots executives is essential to building a more resilient and effective political structure.

Some residents and party members in the constituency have welcomed the move, describing it as timely and supportive, especially for younger members and those with limited resources who aspire to leadership roles.

The initiative is also expected to improve fairness and competitiveness in the ongoing electoral process by creating a more level playing field for all candidates.
