Nkwanta South: BECE Candidates Involved in Motorbike Crash on Way to Exam Centre

Two candidates sitting for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Nkwanta South Municipality have been involved in a motorbike accident while on their way to an examination centre.

The students were quickly rushed to the St. Joseph Catholic Hospital, where they received medical attention.

Despite the ordeal, both candidates demonstrated resilience and later made their way to the examination centre to sit for their papers after treatment, determined not to miss out on continuing their education.

Speaking to Adom News, the Municipal Education Director for Nkwanta South, Jonathan Korsinah, explained that some parents had declined to allow their wards to attend pre-examination camping due to ongoing security concerns in the municipality.

He further noted that many of the candidates had limited preparation time, having stayed out of school for nearly three months because of the situation.

According to him, this disruption has contributed to a noticeable decline in BECE performance in the area compared to previous years, despite efforts to improve educational standards.

Mr. Korsinah appealed to residents and stakeholders to support peace efforts, stressing that insecurity is disrupting learning and posing a serious threat to the future of children in the municipality.

Meanwhile, visits by Adom News to several examination centres showed the presence of police officers and joint military patrol teams, who have been deployed to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the examinations.
