President John Dramani Mahama’s “One Million Coders” initiative has recorded strong early interest in Nkoranza North, with more than 66 applicants already registered ahead of its official rollout.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Effah Patrick “Patoo”, officially inaugurated and handed over the new One Million Coders Programme Centre this week, marking a key step in efforts to equip young people with practical coding and digital skills.
The initiative, run by the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, is aimed at driving digital innovation and expanding technology-based skills across the country.

Speaking at the launch, Hon. Effah Patrick said the centre will serve as a hub for digital education in the district.
“This centre’s mandate is to drive digital education in our district. By equipping students, apprentices and employers with cutting-edge tech skills, we are building both local and national workforce capacity,” he said.
The purpose-built facility is expected to provide hands-on training in modern technology, with a focus on equipping learners with skills relevant to today’s job market.

The launch event was attended by Nkoranza North MP, Hon. Joseph Kwasi Mensah, who played a key role in securing the project for the district, as well as the Mmerantehene and other traditional leaders in Busunya.
Hon. Effah Patrick described the centre as a major opportunity for young people in the area to improve their livelihoods through digital skills.
“This is another way people here can acquire the technological skills they need to earn a better living and build better lives. The centre looks amazing, and it is an honour to officially open it,” he said.
Busunya Assemblyman and Mmerantehene of the Busunya Traditional Area, Hon. Eric Amoako, also welcomed the initiative, describing it as timely.
“The ‘born before computer’ era is over. Most of the talent we need is already in our community. What we need now is to inspire people, develop their skills and connect them to opportunities,” he said.
