Two people have died and five others sustained injuries following a fatal road crash at Third Ridge Junction along the Accra–Cape Coast Highway on Tuesday morning.
The accident occurred at about 7:00 a.m. on April 28, 2026.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service at the Cape Coast Regional Headquarters responded quickly to the emergency after receiving a distress call.
According to officials, the crash involved a Toyota Corolla with registration number GW-5769-16 and a HOWO tipper truck with registration number GN-1497-22.

Firefighters arriving at the scene found the driver of the Toyota Corolla trapped behind the steering wheel. He was rescued and rushed to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital but was later pronounced dead.

Eyewitnesses said the Toyota Corolla was travelling from Cape Coast towards Accra when the driver noticed a pick-up vehicle dangerously overtaking and attempting to move into the lane of an oncoming tipper truck.

The Corolla driver reportedly slowed down in response.
The HOWO tipper truck, which was travelling in the opposite direction, is said to have swerved into the outer lane to avoid the overtaking vehicle. However, while attempting to return to its lane, the driver allegedly lost control and collided head-on with the Toyota Corolla.
Regional Fire Commander Merinder Mary Attigah-Mensah was at the scene and urged motorists to exercise patience and caution while driving.

All victims were transported to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for treatment and further medical care.
The bodies of the deceased have since been deposited at the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
